How to Remember What You Learn

Looks like our parents may have been wrong, because the best way to study or retain information isn’t to lock yourself in a quiet room for hours on end.

According to an article in the magazine The Week, University of California psychologist Robert Bjork says the best way to retain information is to study or do your work in a variety of places. Information becomes “enriched” and easier to remember when the “outside context is varied.”

At work, try leaving your desk at least once during the day and taking your work to an outside patio, coffee shop or even a simple conference room.
