Surfing the Web is Good For You and Your Boss

Minimizing your computer Internet windows to hide your Twitter activity from the boss? Don’t bother because websurfing could actually be good for you.

Research from the University of Melbourne suggests a quick Facebook update between meetings is productive for both your company and you.

The research found that people who browsed the Web at work for less than 15 percent of the workday were 9 percent more productive  than coworkers who didn’t.

Study author Brent Coker, Ph.D., told Marie Claire Magazine that this could be attributed to the concentration restoration that occurs during web-surfing micro-breaks, plus the autonomy of knowing your employer trusts you to manage yourself
