Incentives Help to Shed the Pounds

Looking to lose weight? Try giving yourself an incentive. A new study is showing that bribery can actually help people shed pounds. The participants in the British study lost an average of 8.8 pounds to earn $360. Half the participants lost at least 5 percent of their body weight. “The successful recruitment to this program suggests that a financial incentives weigh-loss program may be acceptable to the general public and to National Health Services employees, and to both men and women,” said Clare Renton of the University of Sheffield.
